At Wonders of Learning Preschool (WOL), Crossroads has the phenomenal opportunity to impact children and families’ lives in the surrounding community. When families enroll their students at our preschool, they are entrusting us to educate their kids AND to disciple them. We get the privilege of helping lay an academic AND biblical foundation for their lives. Our teachers get to teach them about numbers and letters and how to write their name AND they get to teach them about the God who created them and loves them in Jesus. In short, the community is bringing the next generation to us.
And in that way, WOL is a built-in, structured outreach ministry of Crossroads. What they do impacts families in our community by influencing their children. What makes WOL different from other outreach ministries is that they have a separate revenue stream. Their budget is based on tuition payments from the families whose children attend our school. One of the ways to accommodate increases in staffing and operational costs of our preschool program is to raise tuition rates – costs go up, tuition rates go up.
It doesn’t take many years of doing that until there are some in the surrounding community who can no longer afford to attend our school, and the more we narrow the group of people who can afford our school, the more we narrow the scope of our outreach.
We have a vision for a different future: the WOL Fund.
The WOL Fund is our effort to continue to provide a quality education at an affordable price. In the fall of 2022, Crossroads committed to give $20,000 annually to the WOL preschool budget. We refuse to become an elitist school that is only accessible to the affluent, which means that your contribution to the fund is a tangible way to impact families in the surrounding community today.
