Neighborhood News- December 12, 2019

This Sunday will be a special day for honoring Lisa and John Bucholz for their tremendous 20+ year investment of time and energy, sweat and tears, in the youth of our church family. Lisa came onto staff at Crossroads during a long and tough season of transition, serving as Youth Director and then as Children’s Director–after many many years of both her and John volunteering for the youth. As many of you know, this past year John (one of the fittest guys in our church!) had a number of onset health issues that required multiple invasive surgeries and extended stays in the hospital–a tumor removed from brain, a hernia surgery, and multiple surgeries after his appendix ruptured! On top of that, John and Lisa are currently in the middle of the process of moving. With all these factors, Lisa needed to step down from her role as Children’s Director. But God, in his continued faithfulness to Crossroads, has provided a wonderful interim Children’s Director in Sarah Eck! So this Sunday, we will be honoring Lisa and John for their service and welcome Sarah Eck onto the team.

We will have thank you cards available at the Connection Point for you to write John and Lisa a word of thanks and / or prayers as they move into this new season of life and (hopefully and prayerfully!) rest. Please be sure to stop by and offer your thoughts and prayers to them, if you are able.
I’m so enjoying this season of Advent and anticipation together. Look forward to worshiping together on Sunday!

Much love,
Pastor Jeremy

Neighborhood News- December 5, 2019

Nine years ago Crossroads began a tradition called the Advent Offering.  Over the years we have given toward what God is doing in Russia, Mongolia, Bosnia, Syria, Ecuador, and other various locations.  The projects have ranged from construction efforts to funding ministry start-ups.  Over the years you have given more than $87,000.00.

The invitation to participate comes in response to the gift of Jesus and our desire to live generously as He did.  Our vision of leading all generations to know Christ and make Him known includes the scope of our neighborhood to all nations.  Our heart is to invest in Bremerton, Kitsap County, Washington, the United States, and the world because that is the heart of the Father.  In light of this, Kitsap Homes of Compassion has been identified as the target of our Advent Offering.

KHOC is eliminating homelessness, one shared home at a time and the opportunity is available for you to join in.  We desire to continue to partner with KHOC through our Thanksgiving Meal, house managers and maintenance assistance but also in a couple of financial ways.  First, each home opened costs roughly $5000.00, which includes initial deposits and other various expenses.  Second, although the majority of the organization is facilitated via volunteers, there are some operational expenses involved.  Transitions, bookkeeping, and miscellaneous cost arise in an effort to provide uniformity and fluidity.  Will you partner with us this year?

You are free to give throughout the month of December, but our main offering will occur at our Christmas Eve Service.  Please be sure to designate your gift “Advent Offering” either on your check, on the envelope or online via the drop-down tab.

Blessings,
Pastor Eric

Neighborhood News- November 14, 2019

It’s beginning to look at lot like… Thanksgiving! And yes, in case you were wondering, it’s too soon to start listening to Christmas songs, too. Before we put up the tinsel and trees and start eating toffee, there’s something exciting you need to know about!

On Wednesday, November 20, our church is hosting a Thanksgiving meal with Kitsap Homes of Compassion, a ministry aimed at ending homelessness in Kitsap County, and operated by our very own Joel and Anne Adamson. We are inviting the house managers and tenants to join us for a feast, and we are hoping you’ll come serve and eat with us!

The meal is about serving the least of these in our community (Matthew 25:35–36), but it is also about sitting together at a table as the family of God, which always includes the outsiders that have no place or people to call their own (James 1:27).

There are a few ways you can get involved with the meal:

  • Setup and cooking
  • Transportation (to and from the meal)
  • Attending the meal
  • Clean-up

You can email me at sdonica@crossroadscma.com to sign-up, or drop by the Connection Point this Sunday. Come join the feast on November 20. You’ll be glad you did!

Best,
Sam Donica
Pastor to Youth and Families
