Neighborhood News- October 17, 2019

I wanted to take this chance and say thank you for your prayers and support for Quest, our junior high youth retreat last weekend. The retreat was a meaningful time of prayer, conversation, worship and fun with the 7 students and 3 leaders who attended from Crossroads!

The theme for Quest was Face to Face, and we spent the weekend talking about how Jesus wants to have a face to face with each of us, and everyday at that! We looked at the stories of Zacchaeus (Luke 19) and the Samaritan woman (John 4), and how each of their face-to-face encounters with Jesus impacted and changed their life.

It was really beautiful and encouraging to see our students engage in the sessions, conversations and prayer time to lean into their own face-to-face with Jesus. The most amazing part? They leaned in, and Jesus was there waiting for them and speaking to them. And I witnessed with my own eyes and ears the words of encouragement, love and faith that He had to speak to them! As we prepared to leave from the retreat, each student was invited to take a permanent marker and write “Ask Me” on the back of their hand, as a way of inviting conversations about their face-to-face with Jesus or what they felt God was saying to them throughout the weekend. The ink has likely worn off, but God’s words are surely written indelibly on their hearts.

For those of you who took youth prayer cards earlier this year, please keep praying. Prayer works, even when we don’t know how, but God’s faithfulness is unmatched and He has a proven record of answering prayer and transforming lives through His Son, Jesus. We felt your prayers this weekend, and I covet and appreciate them in the weeks and months to come!

If you’ve written off hymns as “old people music”, this event is for you.
