Today–The Day of Salvation

“Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For he says,

‘In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’

Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, today is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:1-2).

Today, nearly two million muslims have gathered together in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca every capable muslim is required to carry out at least once in their life. Hajj is one of the ‘five pillars of Islam‘, apart from which a person has no hope of salvation. It consists of five days of events, but today, August 31, is the “The Day of Hajj” and is the most important, because this is the day, like Israel’s Day of Atonement, they gather around Mount Arafat to ask Allah for forgiveness of sins (watch this video for more information) and sacrifice an animal, typically a lamb if they can afford it.

But they seek the grace of God in vain. There is only one “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (Jn. 1:29). Today is the most important day of petitionary prayer for muslims, and it must therefore become one of the most important days of intercessory prayer for Christians. Pray, today, for Jesus Christ to reveal himself–in dreamsvisions, and through Christ’s witnesses–to muslims as the only means of forgiveness through the blood of the cross. Pray they would not be able to think of any name other than Jesus when they see the blood spill from the flesh of their sacrifices. Pray that, in the light of Christ, muslims today would dare to pray to God as Father (as Bilquis Sheikh describes in the fascinating book on her conversion from Islam to Christianity). Pray, indeed, that today would truly become the day of forgiveness, the day of salvation.

Also, this Sunday I’m excited to commence with our 16-week series on the Good News Discipleship process! 500 discipleship booklets that we’ve created just for Crossroads came in the mail yesterday! If you still want to sign up, classes don’t start until Sunday, September 10, so there is still time: SIGN UP HERE!

Praying with you!

Pastor Jeremy

Responding To The Flooding In Texas

Over the past week, the media has continually been updating us on the flooding in Texas.  As you know, we are a part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance family.  This family extends around the world, including Texas.  As a result there are multiple churches directly affected by the flooding.  Another part of our family is CAMA (Compassion and Mercy Associates).  CAMA serves in a variety of relief and development ministries that flesh out the good news of God’s love for people – body and soul.  CAMA has been in Texas and is in the midst of providing relief.  In response, some have asked how they can be involved.  First, please be in prayer for all those involved there, both those needing aid and those providing it.  Second, if you are interesting in giving financially we are directing people to do so directly to CAMA.  Simply click here to access their link.

Neighborhood Group Sign Up

Sunday morning worship is great to gather with our larger community but can be hard to connect with individuals.   Neighborhood Groups are our way to help you connect and do life together.  It’s a time to catch up with others, study the Bible, figure out how to live what you’ve learned and then pray for what you are learning or what you are going through in life.  We believe God speaks to us all, so our goal is to help continue that conversation with others.

Our fall block begins mid September and runs until Christmas, so please sign up now so we can get you connected.  You can sign up by either: 1) Clicking here to register online or 2) Fill out a form at the information desk on Sunday.

If you have any questions, please call the church office or contact Pastor Eric at

Welcome Megan Weinert, our new office manager!

Megan grew up in Oshkosh, WI with her parents and sisters traveling often to northern WI for extended family.  She has various loves which include hunting, quilting, coffee, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, playing with kids, traveling and many more.  The past seven years she has been in Wilmore, KY growing in her faith, finishing her accounting degree and making lifelong friends.  She is excited to meet everyone at Crossroads and begin this new chapter God has set before her.

She will be arriving early next week and begin in the office on Thursday.  Please be praying for her transition to the Northwest.

Church Office Hours

The last few weeks of the summer are very fluid at Crossroads.  Staff is in the midst of shoring up fall details and enjoying some vacation.   We are also in the midst of transitioning office managers.  Due to these moving parts, we have been adjusting office hours.  Please know we will respond as soon as we are able to emails or phone messages should we miss you at the office.  We will be closed on September 4th for Labor Day.  Thanks for your support and understanding!
